Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. ® Receives GMP Registration
for Dietary Supplements and Athletic Banned Substances through NSF
International
Soft Gel Technologies, Inc. ® (SGTI), a contract manufacturer of premium
quality soft gelatin capsules, recently completed a successful facilities audit
by NSF International and has achieved Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration
through their Dietary Supplement Certification program. More...
In addition, SGTI was registered under NSF’s
Athletic Banned Substances program, also known as GMP for Sport™.
NSF International is an independent, not-for-profit, organization that
helps protect the public by certifying products and writing standards
for food, water and consumer goods. In response to the growing concern
about the ingredients used in dietary supplements, and the environments
in which they are produced, NSF offers GMP registration services to
the dietary supplement industry. As part of SGTI’s registration,
NSF conducted audits at the company’s manufacturing facilities
in Los Angeles, CA. Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® received registration
certificates and is listed on the NSF International website, confirming
that the company is in compliance with GMP’s as set forth in
NSF/ANSI Standard 173, the American National Standard for Dietary Supplements.
For the past few years, SGTI has participated in the Natural Product
Association’s GMP certification program, and received an “A” compliance
rating after being audited by a third-party inspector. According to
SGTI President, Ron Udell, successfully meeting all of the requirements
included in NSF’s GMP Registration Program confirms the company’s
commitment to quality. He remarked, “The two GMP registrations
awarded by NSF provide our customers with the assurance that SGTI manufactures
safer, higher-quality products. It is a great honor for the company
to have both NSF and NPA GMP certifications.”
"With the new GMP’s now published, Soft Gel Technologies is setting
an example for other sport nutrition manufacturers to follow," said
David Abney, general manager, NSF's Dietary Supplements and Functional
Foods Certification Program. “Not only did Soft Gel receive
GMP registration to demonstrate their commitment in meeting stringent
quality
procedures, they also received GMP for Sport™ registration
to demonstrate compliance with NSF’s athletic banned substance
requirements for GMP’s.” Close

Featured Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® and OptiPure® VendorWorks
Presentations at SupplySide East Will Focus on Ubiquinol and Banaba
Leaf Extract and Its Role in Blood Glucose Regulation
Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® (SGTI) and OptiPure® will host
Andrew Myers, N.D. as a speaker at the SupplySide East trade show in
Secaucus, New Jersey,
on Tuesday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m. in seminar room E and at 4:00 p.m. in seminar
room AB of the Meadowlands Exposition Center. More...
Dr. Myers is a naturopathic physician with nearly 20
years of experience developing new nutritional products. He currently
serves as the President and Chief Science Officer of NutraGenetics,
and is the author of Simple Health Value. In his first VendorWorks
presentation entitled, “Ubiquinol (Kaneka QH™)—The
Active Antioxidant,” Dr. Myers will discuss the reduced form
of coenzyme Q10 and its benefits. Show attendees are also encouraged
to attend the afternoon VendorWorks presentation entitled, “Overcoming
Insulin Resistance: Natural Solutions for Blood Glucose Regulation,” where
they can learn about the health risks associated with insulin resistance
and how natural medicines, including compounds such as corosolic acid
from banaba leaf extract, play a role in improving blood glucose metabolism.
Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® is pleased to offer Kaneka’s
QH™ ingredient in a soft gelatin delivery system. This form of
CoQ10 has been reduced to an active form and is a highly bioavailable
antioxidant. Supplementation with ubiquinol benefits those whose ability
to convert this valuable nutrient from its oxidized state (ubiquinone)
to its reduced state (ubiquinol)—particularly those who are over
40 years old and individuals whose plasma CoQ10 levels are deficient
because of certain chronic diseases.
Insulin resistance causes an elevation in blood glucose levels. Long
term elevation of blood sugar creates a high risk for developing full-blown
diabetes, along with stroke and heart disease. A standardized banaba
leaf extract containing 18% corosolic acid is available exclusively
from SGTI and OptiPure® may help maintain healthy blood glucose
levels, thereby decreasing the risk of long-term complications associated
with insulin resistance.
SGTI President, Ron Udell, commented, “Education is a key component
in creating understanding and gaining acceptance for new products.
We are pleased to have Dr. Myers speak on behalf of Soft Gel Technologies,
Inc.® and OptiPure®.” SGTI and OptiPure will exhibit
at booth numbers 1518 &1520 at SupplySide East. Close

Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® Supports Lonza’s L-Carnipure® L-Carnitine Seminar Presented by Dr. William J. Kraemer at Natural Products Expo West
Lonza will host William J. Kraemer, PhD, as a speaker at the Natural Products Expo West trade show in Anaheim, California, on Saturday, March 25th at 1:00 p.m. in Room 205B of the Anaheim Convention Center. More...
Dr. Kraemer, a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Connecticut, will present attendees with information about the various benefits of Lonza's L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate in a seminar entitled, "L-Carnipure® L-Carnitine-Its Role in Exercise and Recovery." In cooperation with Lonza, Soft Gel Technologies, Inc.® (SGTI) will provide free literature and samples of Carnisol®, the exclusive soft gel encapsulation of L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate, to seminar participants.
L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate is Lonza's 100% pure, natural L-Carnitine. Lonza is the only manufacturer that offers this pure L-Carnitine, due to a unique patented method for the stereo-specific synthesis of L-Carnitine. L-Carnitine is a vital compound whose basic function is helping to convert fat into energy. Supplementation with L-Carnitine also helps with exercise performance and recovery. Part of Dr. Kraemer's seminar will focus on new clinical findings regarding decreased dosages of L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate being just as effective in muscle recovery after exercise as observed in an earlier trial using a higher dose.
Carnisol®, manufactured exclusively by SGTI, is the only dietary supplement containing 250 milligrams of a unique form of L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate in a special fatty acid base available in an easy-to-swallow soft gel capsule for superior absorption. The L-Tartrate salt is the most preferable form of L-Carnitine because it has the highest yield of stable L-Carnitine.
SGTI® President, Ron Udell, remarked, "SGTI is proud to be affiliated with such a respected supplier as Lonza, and manufacture a recognized, branded ingredient in soft gels. This seminar provides us a perfect opportunity to join forces and promote L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate in a finished dose form as Carnisol®." Mr. Udell added, "We are interested in hearing the new science about the lower doses of L-Carnipure® L-Tartrate from Dr. Kraemer, as capsule size was always a limiting factor in soft gel production for this product."
